Shiv Sena, Goa Suraksha Manch Join Hands for Goa Assembly Polls 2017

Goa Suraksha Manch (GSM) and Shiv Sena on Friday officially announced their alliance to contest the forthcoming assembly elections, which are likely in March 2017. As per the seat sharing deal between Shiv Sena and GSM, Shiv Sena will contest five seats, including three seats in North and two seats in South Goa.

As a result of the alliance, GSM-Shiv Sena-Goa Praja Party together will contest next assembly elections. All the alliance candidates would be declared by December 15 and thereafter they will hold a public meeting which would be attended by Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray.

In the North, the Sena will contest Pernem, Tivim and Saligao seats and in the South, it will contest Vasco and Cuncolim seats. During Thackeray’s recent visit, both the GSM and the Shiv Sena had in principal agreed to forged the alliance. GSM president Anand Shirodkar announced the alliance and said that both are like-minded parties. Sena supports all of GSM demands, including withdrawal of grant-in-aid to church-run English medium primary schools, he said. “We will come out with common minimum programme for the election,” Shirodkar added.
